Unpacking, kinda. Trippy.

I’ve been trying to get things unpacked in the apartment. Some days, like Wednesday, I’m super productive. Other days, like today, I’m not even close. I unpacked maybe one box tonight. Shuffled things around. Just didn’t have the energy after work to do much. Instead, I will probably opt to go to bed early.

Tomorrow morning I’m leaving to go to Tennessee. I get to see Isis! A friend of mine is working on a book on Morab horses. She asked for pictures of my girl to possibly include in the book. Isis will get full spa treatment before being photographed. (Ever try to photograph an animal by yourself? It’s always amusing. You can either hold the horse or take pictures.) I have to remember to take my good camera.

The vet is coming on Monday for her spring shots so I’ll be back in NC on Monday evening.

Ambush is going to come with me. He has been travelling pretty well — better than I expected. While I would prefer not to have to put him through the joys of such a long car ride, it’s probably less stressful than putting him into a kennel for the weekend. He seems to be okay once my bed (cot with sleeping bag) is setup. He settled in last trip after about 2-3 hours. We’ll see how he does this time.

While I’m in town, I’ll also be working on the house. I’m sure the bushes in the front yard are an untrimmed mess. Who knows how bad the weeds are in the flower boxes? The pond is probably badly algified since it’s that time of year… One of the fountains also isn’t working. I’ll have to fix or repair that.

The closets need some updating too. My real estate agent said that people viewing the house didn’t understand that the closets were closets. (Which makes me go huh?! There are closet poles… not enough of a clue?) I’ll have to see what I can do to make things more apparent.

  • Isis feeling good

Last weekend the weather was gorgeous and Isis, who has trouble dealing with the heat, was feeling frisky. I free lunged her in the big ring and after a few minutes, the tail came up and she started snorting. The snort, the prance, and the bounce in her step all show how good she was…

  • Wobbly Stella

Stella is having trouble walking this morning/afternoon. It started just before lunch and lasted almost an hour. I called the vet just before they closed. They said to keep an eye on her and if something happens to take her to the emergency clinic. Otherwise to call them on Tuesday and let them know how…

  • Horse Show!

Well it poured last night. As far as I know, the horse show (Fossils over Fences) has not been cancelled. This is Isis’ and my first combined training show: dressage, stadium jumping, and cross country. We’re showing in the lowest level class, which means the jumps are options, the stadium course can be more like…

  • Cleared to ride

I’ve been healing very well from the accident. The physical therapist and my regular doctor have been positive and upbeat about how quickly I’ve been recovering. I have been doing regular exercises and trying to not work too much on the computer. The strain from looking down exacerbates the neck sprain. The good news is…

  1. My fingers continue to be crossed for you regarding the house. Hope all is well in North Carolina…

Commenting here because of comments being disabled on the other posts. I’ve been updating my blog again, a bit. Partially because I’m home sick from work and thus have a bit more time on my hands. Nothing too serious, but I’m over it and would like to be back to work soon, please!

Hugs to cats and horses and you.

  2. Hope you feel better! How are things up Alaska? I’ll make sure and check out your blog and read up on your latest activities.
Things are kinda strange in NC. Kitties are mostly settling in, but Stella is misbehaving (again). What can you do with an 18 year old kitty who lets you know she is not amused?
Comments shouldn’t be disabled on other posts. I also just updated the blog software from WP 2.5 to 2.5.1. Maybe that reset something. I’ll check into it.
If you find yourself in TN again, let me know and I’ll make sure to get over there.

  3. Things are okay in Alaska – busy season is starting and there’s a ton to do and it’s a bad time to be sick, but otherwise okay.

Say, why is there a little Cthulu squid thing for my icon, and can I change it? 🙂
