Breezy is off on her back right

It never fails. I had a lesson scheduled for Saturday and was all excited about getting back into the groove with the Amazing Miss B.

Except Breezy isn’t quite moving right on her back right. When she trots, she’s short-strided especially when being lunged to the right. She has a noticeable head-toss when she lunges as well.

It’s hard to figure out exactly what is going on. The chiropractor checked her last week and she seemed all good. She also had bodywork the day after the chiropractor visited and she was in very good shape. She had almost two weeks off while I was in Austria and additional time off because of weather conditions.

Lunging showed the difference

When we started lunging in the big ring, the barn owner swapped the paddocks for the thoroughbreds. They were so happy and galloped around for like 20 minutes. Miss B was immediately up and we worked to get her to quiet down. She was eventually focused on me and we got some work done — BUT no idea if she tweaked something while she was all up or if she did something in the field.

It doesn’t appear to be something in her leg. No swelling, no heat, nothing. She’s definitely owie about something though.

The chiropractor is due back out on Saturday for another horse. I’ll have her rechecked just to make sure.

  • AC unit update

A little bit of good news some times goes a very long way. The Rheem AC unit was indeed covered by a parts warranty, but not labor. The unit is now repaired: the variable speed fan motor was bad. It’s the most expensive part of the interior unit. If my understanding is correct, this repair…

  • Birthday week

This past Tuesday was my birthday. I had a ball: dinner with my friend and an evening playing Dragon Age. My friends and I went to a nice (if somewhat pricy) restaurant at the local mall. I even managed to find something that was (theoretically) within my point allotment for the day. (Points = Weight…

  • Birds in the house vents

This has definitely been an interesting week. Roller-coaster ride, frustrations, and more. Yeehaw. First, my mare was lame on Sunday (bad). On Tuesday, my diabetic kitty was more active and alert (good). Wednesday I cleaned the house, had everything looking nice, and then discovered two bird families had made nests in the house (bad). Last…
