Confession time: I was a Brownie, the younger version of the Girl Scouts. Daughter of a Girl Scout Leader. We learned all of the camp songs when we were little, including the Brownie Smile Song.
Ah yes, childhood memories. Except I was also an afficiando of B movies and writing scary stories (involving monsters in the dark and dynamite and cartoon characters — ah yes, elementary school fan fiction).
Today, a friend of mine talked about a song from Sponge Bob ("F is for Friend" or something like that), so I immediately thought about the Smile Song. Except the Smile Song as sung by Zomies.
Brownie lyric | Zombified |
---|---|
I have something in my pocket that belongs across my face | Well, yeah, a zombie could have any number of facial features have have fallen off and then stuck in a pocket. |
I keep it very close to me in a most convenient place. | Well of course you could, if you were a zombie and had lost your eye, nose, lips… You’d be looking pretty hard for a hot glue gun for repairs, too. |
I’m sure you couldn’t guess it if you guessed a long, long while. | Honestly, would you really want to know what a zombie had in its pocket? |
So I’ll take it out and put it on, it’s a great big Brownie smile! | In this case, the lyric might be "brown" smile instead of a Brownie smile, but okay. You never know. The zombie might have eaten a Brownie Girl Scout and saved the smile, too. |
