Tao of Equus

I’ve started reading a new book by Linda Kohanov called The Tao of Equus (see Web site). The author relates her own spiritual journey through her relationship with her horses. It’s a very mystical/shamanistic journey that she goes through. She uses her own experience and her professional training as a psychotherapist to combine the experiences into a therapy program, which she calls “The Epona Method.” I’m not very far into the book (first ~30 pages) but already there have been times when her writing echoes some of my own experiences. It will be interesting to journal what I find here.

Test results finally came back last week: the lumps are granulomas. In other words, the lumps are scar tissue from an allergic reaction or injury. They…

  • Baby Pictures!

This is just too cool! Mom emailed me today and said that she has pictures of my foal, who is still in utero. You know how doctors can take pictures of babies using ultrasound? Well apparently her vet did the same type of thing with Sabbath, the mare who is in foal to Sirdar. Mom…

However, the bout could indicate other problems are developing– including adhesions. He is going to scope her this afternoon…

  • Isis is home!

Isis came home last night. Got on the trailer like a champ and hauled quietly back. She settled in immediately, happily munching hay and looking around. Her body seemed to relax again to realize where she is. I called the vet school twice to verify the amount of hay she’s allowed to have and whether…
