Isis this morning

The barn just called. Isis may be having another episode of EPM (neurological disorder), like she did back in June. She isn’t as bad as she was then, but she still isn’t “right.”

I’ll write more when I know more. I’m on my way out to the barn now.

Update: It’s not EPM. It’s choking.

Update 2: After the vet visit, Isis turned out to be okay. The mild choke was cleared within a minute or two of tubing Isis. I’ll write more later. Been a very long day.

No saddle that fits properly so we’re going to ride bareback. This should be fun since Kasane isn’t crazy about having dangly legs on her side without the saddle. A good learning opportunity. My legs are going to be in great shape. Related Images:

So it is two days out, and she is looking so much better. I feel incredibly relieved. She’s walking and even trotting out in her field. She’s gimpy but feeling so much better than she was Tuesday night. Still gimpy, dragging the front right a little, but major improvement from where she was. Related Images:

  • Update from vet visit

Some good news at least. Isis is still only showing mild symptoms. We’re going to start her on Marquis (oh-my-god-expensive EPM treatment) for a month and then retest her for EPM titers. If everything goes well, the treatments should only be needed once. If the titers are positive, we may have to repeat the Marquis…
