Bareback
No saddle that fits properly so we’re going to ride bareback. This should be fun since Kasane isn’t crazy about having dangly legs on her side without the saddle. A good learning opportunity.
My legs are going to be in great shape.

Kasane’s slow rehabilitation from her suspensory ligament injury made last year feel longer than almost any other year. Doing the rehab itself wasn’t hard. It just took dedicated time every week. No excuses (well, except for weather — can’t do much walking or riding in the rain without a covered arena). The hardest part was…
I worked both of the girls today. Ah, sanity! I drove up and Isis knickered at me. Walking into the barn, both girls whinneyed for me. That was a treat: first time they have both called for me. I should have been sewing. Had to see the girls and play with them for a little…
Nasty weather this week. Temperature hit 98F today (heat index of 109F) and tomorrow the temperature is supposed to be 100F with thunderstorms in the evening. Looks like the girls will have tonight and tomorrow off. Some good news for Isis: The barn owner called me back. Isis seemed to be better around noon. She…
Breezy is now six and has matured into a stunning mare. She’s such a ham and loves showing off. My mom is going to a large show this summer and wants me to take Breezy. I’m not sure I’ll be able to so I wanted to do a photoshoot so mom would have some pictures….
Let’s say that you have a pool of energy to draw from to complete all of your daily tasks. Having a certain level of stress or worry is like having a small leak in that bucket so some things — like writing more blog posts — don’t happen as often. Kasane’s treatment for her proximal…
The people at my barn are trying out a very sweet off-the-track Thoroughbred. She’s a big bay mare with a lot of heart. Fascinating to learn about the differences with Thoroughbreds who have raced and what that means they are used to (like someone mounting and then walking off immediately). A barn name hasn’t been…
