Life has been hectic, to say the least. The new job I started in January has been good, but it’s a lot more time and focus than my previous gig. Also more travel: I’ve visited Miami, Malaga in Spain, and soon San Francisco. No complaints. It is fun and interesting work, if a bit stressful and chaotic.
Combine work with riding and gaming, and well, that’s my week without too much time set aside for writing. Time and energy have been spent elsewhere, to be honest.
I’m writing posts now to catch up. There is a huge backlog of things and honestly, some of it is hard to write because it was an emotional roller coaster. Most of it centered around Kasane.
Her hock issue has been one of the big turn arounds. After she had that reaction to the hock injections in October, my vet said that any kind of joint injections would be off of the table for her. We had to find other things to help bring her back from the whole episode and help treat her degenerative joint disease (DJD) in her hocks. And we did by changing her joint supplement to Advanced Cetyl M, redoing the loading dose for Adequan (injectable joint medicine to help DJD), and doing continuous rehab with slowly increasing what we were doing during our rides. Starting at 15-minute walks and gradually adding more time, circles, and gait changes.
Once the weather cooperated and we could have about a month of solid riding, Kasane was approved to go back into lessons. We haven’t looked back since. She’s been doing great and keeps improving.
