Finger update

The cut on my finger has completely healed over on the large entrance wound and the smaller exit wound. My finger is still a little swollen and I don’t quite have full range of motion back. However, the finger flexes enough to hold reins, so that’s all I care about.

I still can’t hold a pen and write very well, but that’s why I bring my portable and type. Or write on the white board with my right hand. (Being ambidextrous has come in very handy, no pun intended.)

I got a notice from classmates.com that I had a message waiting from Maria T, my best friend in high school and in middle school. She was the only person I was close to during those years. She married when I was a sophomore in college and joined the navy. I haven’t heard from her…

The stitches came out last week on Friday. So far, everything looks good: healing clean without tendon damage. However, there is some nerve damage. The top and inside of my finger feels like it has a perpetual case of Novacaine-like numbness. As the swelling goes down, I’ve regained a little range of motion. I can…

  • Writing and Inspiration

My stepmom just quit her teaching job to write full time. I am so proud of her for taking an opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream. She’s writing children’s books and also some adult fiction. We had a long conversation about writing, characters, the stories she is working on, and writing in general. Non-writers do…

  • Finished painting!

Finally… Back in June when the toilet fiasco hit, I had repainted the hallway and foyer. It was supposed to be a sage green. It turned out to be the color of algae. (Can you say depressing?) It is now a bright, light lemon yellow. I just finished painting, caulking and painting the mouldings, and…
