The stitches came out last week on Friday. So far, everything looks good: healing clean without tendon damage. However, there is some nerve damage. The top and inside of my finger feels like it has a perpetual case of Novacaine-like numbness.
As the swelling goes down, I’ve regained a little range of motion. I can type again but I still can’t hold a pen very well in my left hand. I can write briefly — enough to address an envelope but not much more. The doctor said a few weeks for the swelling to go down. Possibly a few months for the nerves to heal.
My friends are now gigging me about not using knives to cook. Hey, at least they were sharp knives!
