Breezy is off on her back right

It never fails. I had a lesson scheduled for Saturday and was all excited about getting back into the groove with the Amazing Miss B.

Except Breezy isn’t quite moving right on her back right. When she trots, she’s short-strided especially when being lunged to the right. She has a noticeable head-toss when she lunges as well.

It’s hard to figure out exactly what is going on. The chiropractor checked her last week and she seemed all good. She also had bodywork the day after the chiropractor visited and she was in very good shape. She had almost two weeks off while I was in Austria and additional time off because of weather conditions.

Lunging showed the difference

When we started lunging in the big ring, the barn owner swapped the paddocks for the thoroughbreds. They were so happy and galloped around for like 20 minutes. Miss B was immediately up and we worked to get her to quiet down. She was eventually focused on me and we got some work done — BUT no idea if she tweaked something while she was all up or if she did something in the field.

It doesn’t appear to be something in her leg. No swelling, no heat, nothing. She’s definitely owie about something though.

The chiropractor is due back out on Saturday for another horse. I’ll have her rechecked just to make sure.

  • Breezy needs surgery

I heard back from my vet about the bone chip in Breezy’s front left fetlock. The bone chip looks like a little tiny ball in her joint, but if left untreated, it could lead to joint damage, arthritis, and other bad things. My vet referred Breezy to the NCSU large animal hospital for surgery to…

For the past month, I’ve been packing and coordinating a move. Finally finished the move on Friday, cleaned like mad on Saturday, and turning in the keys to the old apartment on Sunday morning. • Presidential Debates

Seems like everyone on this side of the pond are watching the presendential debates. Last night, Hilleary Clinton and Barack Obama squared off in their first two-person debate. (Senator John Edwards bowed out of the race earlier this week without endorsing either remaining Democratic candidates.) I’m leery about the entire process presidential nomination and electrorial…
