Rest well, Itty Bitty Stella Kitty
Stella passed this past Wednesday, at 4:30. She was 21. She had melted away to almost nothing, poor little thing.
I’ll write more when it’s not so fresh.

It is about 2:00 AM. I just heard the first gun shot in my otherwise quiet neighborhood. This is very surreal. The last time I lived in an area where there were gun shots, they were from hunters tracking dear or other game. The time before that was when I lived in Durham. I rented…
Stella has been back on track with her fluids for the last three weeks. After the day when she lost four ounces, I went to the pet store and tried some kitten food. Higher fat, lower protein: seemed like a reasonable choice if Stella would eat it. And eat it she did. Like it was…
The vet called this morning with some good news! Basette’s morning glucose was 405 (much lower then the prior day’s 500+), and her lunch-time glucose was 339. Something strange is happening with Basette’s eyes. This evening her pupils looked completely dilated. Even when I picked her up and looked at her eyes in bright light, the pupils didn’t respond. She isn’t looking directly at me. She looks in my direction, but never meets my gaze, unlike my other kitties. This isn’t right….

Her time here was long, and she was a lovely companion for a very long time. I know it’s still difficult, even when you knew that the time would come. This has been a very difficult year for you, between Stella and Ambush–know that you’re in my thoughts.
Thank you. Stella was an amazing little kitty who was blessed with a long life and 95% function right up to the end (except for the last 2 days of her life). I was really lucky to have her.
I’ll post about what actually happened after a while. It is just a little too fresh to really write about it yet.
