Photo of Isis

I was going through my pictures of Isis and I finally found the one of her running. I only wish this one had focused better. Oh well. It was taken with a Kalimar 35mm film camera with a 80-200mm telephoto lens. Related Images:

Doctor Who on SciFi Channel

I can’t believe I missed it tonight! My favorite show and I got caught up playing Oblivion. Time passes when you’re having fun? I did watch last week’s episode, ‘New Earth.’ I was surprised that several scenes had been clipped to insert commercials. It was pretty annoying to see how much was missing. Nothing you’d notice unless you had scenes the version of the ones released in the U.K. (available periodically on YouTube)....

Doctor Who Season Two!

Yes, you guessed it. I’m a Who fan. Fan conventions with actors who have played the Doctor’s previous incarnations? You bet. Even have autographed posters. Yup, even started knitting the scarf. Doctor Who is an acquired taste. You have to like quirky, campy British humour to appreciate Doctor Who. The second season is finally airing in the US on the Sci Fi channel. The Christmas Invasion and the first episode of the second...

Tao of Equus

I’ve started reading a new book by Linda Kohanov called The Tao of Equus (see Web site). The author relates her own spiritual journey through her relationship with her horses. It’s a very mystical/shamanistic journey that she goes through. She uses her own experience and her professional training as a psychotherapist to combine the experiences into a therapy program, which she calls “The Epona Method.” I’m not very far into the book (first...

Web site graph

This is a really cool tool that creates a graph of a Web site. The pictures are based upon HTML pages and tags used. Pretty neat. It’s a Java applet, so it can take some time. Web Sites As Graphs Related Images:

Roof fixed!

The roofers came back out on Saturday and have hopefully fixed the roof. It rained like mad on Saturday night and so far no drippings inside the house. There is just something so depressing about buying a house, having it inspected and getting a gold star — and within three months having a large limb from a neighbors tree fall in the front yard, two roof leaks, water damage in the floor, discovering...

Storm last night

It rained again here last night. Originally I wasn’t too worried about the rain because the roof had been patched. The roofer had warned me that he might not have gotten all of the spot and to call him if the roof continued to leak. The roof leaked last night. This time water actually came into the sun room — dripped from the upper window ledge onto the floor. I don’t know if...

Vet Checkup

Monday morning vet check went well. Isis’ incision is healing well. Overall, she looks good except for her weight. When the vet examined her belly, Isis stretched out her neck and wiggled her nose. Silly girl wasn’t sore, she was itchy! Related Images:

A “Floating Floor” and Home Owner’s Insurance

I’ve called in a claim. Here’s hoping that the insurance company will cover either the roof or the flooring… They might not, but it’s at least worth a try. I talked to one fo the guys at work who had extensive flooding problems in his old house. All of the bad stuff I had been fearing was what he recommended doing: tearing up the floor, spraying for mold, possibly tearing out some of...

“Happy” Home Ownership?!

When I bought my house in May, all of my friends and parents were very congratulatory. They frequently ask how the happy owner is and the happy house? Upon threat of your life, don’t ask me that this week. Not unless you have time to spare and a good set of ear plugs. September generally sees the onset of fall rains in Tennessee. Normal light, dreery rain, occassional heavy ones. We had several...

White Wonder Cat, Take 2

Ever notice how big cats are chickens? My big white cat, Ambush, is about 15 pounds. He is two or three times the weight of my smaller cat, Stella. Saturday was his routine diabetes check up at the vet’s. He scurried off to hide as soon as he saw the cat carrier come in from the garage. When Ambush is stressed he does two things: whines and sheds. He was very good about...

Rajiyyah

Rajiyyah has a new bit: a 4.5 inch double-jointed snaffle with a round, copper alloy mouth piece. I picked up the bit because she didn’t seem very happy with the full cheek eggbutt snaffle I was using. She loves this bit. She actually grabs it into her mouth when we’re tacking up. I had to wiggle the full cheek into her mouth. Not with this new bit. Today I used Rajiyyah’s show bridle...

Incision Site Still Swollen

Isis still has quite a bit of swelling on the incision site. I’m going to have the vet out to check it hopefully tomorrow or on Monday. Isis is sore, which I suppose is to be expected. When I place my hand near the incision site, she lifts her back leg to threaten a “don’t do that.” She still seems to be eating the grain with the corn oil. Maybe this will work....

Oddness

It has been a strange day. First, I slept late. Work has been surreal. In the next few hours I’ll be heading to the barn to take care of Isis. I always get there when it’s too late to work Rajiyyah. Pretty soon it won’t matter what time I leave because it will be dark before I’m off. I ordered more Mare Magic for Rajiyyah last week. She has been doing very well...
