Getting Stella to eat

DSCF0683.JPGGetting Stella to eat is not an easy task. This weekend she didn’t want to eat much of anything. I’m not sure what to do. She is drinking well, but she doesn’t want to touch the wet kitten food, her Fromm dry food, Ambush’s food, the tuna cat food from Trader Joe’s, or the other various things I’ve tried. She hasn’t touched anything that I’ve seen since Saturday.

She’s tried to eat Ranch veggie dip (not good) and has eaten a little bit of lunch meat. That’s it. We will see what she’ll eat tonight. I’m going to pick up another flavor of the Fromm dry food and see if that helps. Maybe I’ll cook some eggs, lamb, and rice for her tonight.

I know she has lost weight again. Just when we finally broke through the 5 pound mark last week. For Stella, losing a few ounces is a big thing. I’m not sure what to do.

We have a vet appointment tomorrow for fluids. If Stella hasn’t eaten by then, we’ll see what they say.

It hasn’t really hit me that Basette won’t be back. On an intellectual level, I know that she won’t be back; that she is gone forever to visit only in memories. On an emotional level, it’s very hard to accept. No, not hard to accept. It is hard to express the grief. How do you…

  • Update on Ambush

I called my vet in Tennessee for a second opinion on the way in to work this morning. She said it is possible that another vet could hear a murmur that she missed. She also suggested getting a second opinion: 80% of the cats she diagnoses with murmurs really don’t require much treatment because it…

  • Visit with Basette

I visited with Basette for 1.5 hours today. When I first got there, she purred, stood up in her cage, and walked over to me. Purring so loudly. So happy to see me. She seemed better at first. She cuddled under my chin, purred contentedly. After about 20 minutes, she became uncomfortable and squirmed to…
