Bibliomanic Tagging

Forgive me for not being formally tagged with this, but it looked like way too much fun to pass up.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next three sentences in your journal along with these instructions. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
5. Tag five other people to do the same.

The closest book on my book case was the one sticking out (forgive me for not choosing the German one whose spine was sticking out farther.)

Page 23, fifth sentence: “It is for this reason that we shall only succeed in our aim of an integrated analysis if we manage to unravel this code.”

From: Derks, Ton. “Religion and the study of the Romanization process,” Gods, Temples, and Ritual Practices: The Transformation of Religious Ideas and Values in Roman Gaul, Amsterdam Unviersity Press, Amsterdam, 1998.

So now I have to go tag other people =)

  • Looking at Rental Places

I looked at houses on Sunday with my friend in Hillsborough and my younger sister. We drove around Hillsborough and Carrboro (a little too far away from work to be feasible). One house sounded good: old Mill house built in the early 1900s with one bedroom/one bath for $600/month. No problem with pets. Sounded great….

  • What a night…

Okay, first the good news. The package I thought had been Banff’ed was actually sent to the dead letter center in Atlanta. That was one MAJOR screw up on the part of the post office. I went to the post office when the letter was supposedly still in the building. I was told (at the…

  • PHP Issue

Apparently, the Previous posts link at the bottom of page returns only the posts on the front page. I think this is an issue in the PHP coding in the theme I’m currently using. I’m troubleshooting this currently and will hopefully have it resolved soon. Meanwhile, please use the archive calendar on the right to…

  • Ants. Again.

I love my house. Most of the time. Except for some of the creative home improvement I’ve had to correct. Lots of things to learn to love, and to hate. Like bugs. When I moved in, I found cockroaches, ants, box elder bugs, silverfish, and a slew of other creepies. The house had more insects…

  • Box cloud storage

A while back, Box (cloud storage, like Drop Box) offered a promo for a free 50 GB account by signing up for Box using the Android app. Sounded like a sweet deal, so I signed up. Box storage is accessible via web, desktop, iOS, and Android clients. It’s come in handy a few times, but…
