Brain Surgery

Here is some good news: first set of upgrades are complete. The portable has a new hard drive and 1 gig of ram. Boy is it much faster now! Updated the hard drive from a 4200 to a 5400 and from 512 to 1 gig of RAM.

Cracked the case on the Mac mini. The pictures I had and instructions were from the prior model. The memory slots now are underneath the plastic interior casing: have to remove the hard drive and the CD/RW. I think I’ll pay someone $30 to install it instead of messing with something like that. The screws are itty bitty and embedded in hard to reach places. I’d rather not take a chance, you know? This little machine definitely would not be an easy one to work on.

Heading to bed. Late again. Gotta get out of this habit.

    Problem Fixed

I had two problems with WordPress since I updated to 2.5.1 last week: the trackback field disappeared and no one could leave comments on the posts. Unfortunately the desktop publishing portion appears to be…

  • Random reboots fixed?

For the past several months, I’ve had a disconcerting issue with my iMac. The iMac randomly tries to log me out. My old Mac Mini, which has been retired to the household media server, never had this problem. Googling the symptoms resulted in a mixed bag of possible causes: failing hard drive, faulty memory chips,…

  • CSS Resources

A friend of mine asked for tutorials and resources for CSS, so I complied the following list of sites. The cascading style sheet (CSS) spec (current version is 2.1) is published and maintained by the World Wide Web Consorium (W3C). The W3C also has a tutorial on CSS. W3Schools is a good site with excellent…
