Painting of Ambush

Natamon on DeviantArt did a painting of Ambush as a Mardi Gras cat:

I saw the picture and had to smile. Ambush was a silly kitty who had a plastic fetish and played fetch with rubber bands. He used to climb onto my dresser to pull all of the hair bands out so he could play with them. He had figured out how to hold one of the the hair band with a claw, pull the band with his teeth, and shoot it down the hallway. Self-entertaining kitty.

During the night, I would often hear his tongue rasping over plastic — the plastic book case leg, plastic bags, anything that made a satisfying crinkling noise. One time I came home, and he had pulled all of the plastic bags out of their container and was sitting contentedly in the middle of his new plastic-shrewn domain.

I still miss the little buddy.

It is certainly possible that Basette’s responsiveness last night was from a cleared up infection that didn’t show up on the UTI tests. I hope so! Basette’s glucose was above 500 again this morning, so she’s going to try her on the bovine insulin (PZI) again. Another update! Vet just called and said that Basette…

Stella ate most of her wet food today AND even some of the dry food I gave her this morning. Happy dance! That’s most of a serving of Wellness and half of the dry food. HUGE improvement for her. She spent most of the evening curled up on my desk in front of the monitor….

  • Ambushing the Vet

The vet visit with Ambush went very well. Laura was right: the vets at the clinic in Hillsborough are excellent. Overall, Ambush seems to be doing pretty well. He’s lost more weight (12 pounds instead of 13.8), so that needs to be monitored. We checked his urine to make sure he wasn’t in kitosis (nope,…

  • Stella lost weight

Stella is now the smallest she has ever been: 3 pounds, 13.5 ounces. This Friday we’re going to recheck her phosphorous levels and make sure her meds are at the right dose. Poor little kitten. She is in good spirits and she has been playful. She seems okay, she just didn’t want to eat much…

  • Wobbly Kiesha

Kiesha noted when I woke up and walked over to me. Her hind quarters were wobbly and she almost fell to the side several times. At that point, I forgot about Stephanie and was focused on Squeaky. I watched her closely, and she repeated the same type of movement every time I asked her to…
