Box cloud storage

A while back, Box (cloud storage, like Drop Box) offered a promo for a free 50 GB account by signing up for Box using the Android app. Sounded like a sweet deal, so I signed up. Box storage is accessible via web, desktop, iOS, and Android clients. It’s come in handy a few times, but I’ve missed having a desktop sync feature. It would be nice to be able to keep stories I’m...

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay character sheets

I’ve been looking for new character sheets for Warhammer FRP third edition (3e). The links to the sheets I’ve found are below. My favorite is Gitzman’s very pretty character sheet. (Note: Don’t print this sheet on a Phaser or other similar printer. You won’t be able to write on the sheet very easily.) Gitzman’s Enhanced Character Sheet. Probably my favorite of all of the sheets I found. Gitzman’s expanded fillable character sheet. A...

Rethinking causes of heart disease and high cholesterol

I’ve usually had very good cholesterol levels. Initially my “good” cholesterol was two times the normal amount and the “bad” cholesterol was high, but the two numbers balanced each other out. Last year was the first time my doctor said I needed to watch my cholesterol and try to bring it down. What did she want me to do? I had dropped 45 pounds using Weight Watchers. I was riding 3-5 hours per...

Vet update on Prize

The vet came out today around noon and saw Prize. She was much lamer today than she was yesterday. We added extra bedding to her stall for some extra padding. She still just looked like she hurt, poor girl. The vet had some good news: he’s almost 100% sure it’s not laminitis (yay!). He thinks she has an abscess that is coming to the surface. Hoof testers on the bottom of her hoof...

Prize may have laminitis

When I got to the barn this evening, I had two surprises: Kasane was covered in hives (happened last year too) and Prize was in her stall. I called the barn manager to ask about Prize and to see about giving Kasane antihistamines for a few days. The barn owner and I had been playing phone tag, with my calls not connecting to hers and her phone giving her issues when she tried...

Intrepid jumpers

Last week at the barn, we had a special jumping session to introduce the horses to some of the crazy things you might come across with jumps. Sylvana and Tara came up with some crazy, amazing jump “enhancements.” Okay, most of the time you probably won’t be asked to jump stuff animals or comforters. We had our three six year olds: Kasane, Sylvana’s Renegade, and Tara’s Rooster. Kasane was the smallest of the...

Kiesha eating finally

She’s eating more today. It seems to help that I’m home. If I pet her then she actually started eating her dry kibbles. She completely went off of her regular dry food and instead has been eating Purina One. It’s surprising that she is keeping it down considering that it’s so different from her regular no preservatives, no fillers Now Senior food. A friend at work said that he used to get his...

Wobbly Kiesha

Kiesha noted when I woke up and walked over to me. Her hind quarters were wobbly and she almost fell to the side several times. At that point, I forgot about Stephanie and was focused on Squeaky. I watched her closely, and she repeated the same type of movement every time I asked her to move. She purred and was happy to be loved on. She licked her lips a lot, swallowed —...
