Neologisms from The Washington Post

I tried to find the original article so I could link back. Unfortunately, searching the Washington Post web site doesn’t return any hits for the word “neologisms.” Going through Google turned up lots of hits of people posting the same or similar lists, but no one had a link back to the Washington Post contest. These are just too funny not to share. I particularly like this one: Cashtration (n.): The act of...

Fun with houses! NOT.

When I went out to the house over the Fourth of July weekend, I was met with a rather nasty set of surprises: Both of my back doors had been left unlocked, The air conditioning unit was not working, and The pond looked like nuclear pea soup (neither pond pump was working). The pond was expected. Technically, I came into town to partially empty the pond water and fix the pumps. By the...

Week o’ Headaches

We’re getting lots of rain here, which is good. We need it. I knew we were going to have a good series of storms because of the nasty headache I’ve had since yesterday. It gradually passed, after the thunderstorms struck. Two days of off-again, on-again rain. Related Images:

Offer on the house!

PARTY!! I have an offer on the house!! (Running around with a crazy grin on my face.) The offer is close to what I’m asking, so that is close enough. So, basically I make enough to almost cover the $15k loan I took out for the sewer and roof repairs last summer. Whee!!! Closing date will be at the end of August. WHEEE!!! =) Related Images:

Kitties in the back Update

Last summer, a momma cat had four kittens in my back yard. One little black kitty in particular caught my attention. Little brave kitty who would watch me longer than his siblings. The kitties have ended up living at a neighbor’s house. Momma kitty and all of the kittens are now fixed. The little black kitty I liked so much has disappeared. Related Images:

Visit with Isis this weekend

The best part of this weekend was visiting Isis. When I pulled up on Friday, Isis was in the paddock next to the barn. I rolled down the door and said her name. She immediately nickered and yelled for me. I grinned. The barn owner said that she never whinnies for anyone like she does for me. I beamed. Life is good when your kid remembers you and calls for you even when...

Doctor Who Season Finale

Here be spoilers. Fair warning. Oh this is cool. If you didn’t see the last episode, don’t read this until you do. Waa! TARDIS in temporal prison with Rose, Doctor, Jack, and Donna. Completely useless TARDIS. Imprisoned in the TARDIS on their way to the Dalek Crucible. Heh. Daleks saying “Exterminate” in German while flying through Neuremburg Forest. Donna and Doctor #2 (mostly human still Time Lord, one heart, with some of Donna’s...

Stella over the weekend

My youngest sister watched my kitties over the weekend. She was great: regular visits and pettings for the kitties. Stella didn’t eat her wet food at all. She also didn’t touch one of the places where I put out dry food in the kitchen. My sister was pretty worried about Stella. Tonight I gave Stella some different wet food — and she has been eating it all night off an on. I also...

Worried about Stella

I’m heading back to Tennessee this weekend to work on the house. I’m bringing Ambush with me and leaving Stella at the apartment. She eats better when I’m around, but I’m worried that the stress of a 11+ hours in a car over three days would be too much stress on her. So she will be a the house by herself until Sunday. My sister is going to check on her, so theoretically...
