This is a good week for the house: three showings in two days. There is a new showing scheduled for this evening.

A lady I work with pointed out that I should try to have a better attitude. I’ve been rather pessimistic. Would you be if you’d had 25+ viewings and no offers? She said that the house is getting good visibility and I just need to focus on attracting the right people to purchase the house. Think positive and all that.

Funny. I gave a similar talk to my sister when she was frustrated with a job hunt.

This is a first! The house has two showings scheduled back to back for tonight: 6:30 and 7:00. Wow.Here’s hoping that things will go well and maybe someone will make an offer.

I’ve received two notifications on the house today for two showings: one this afternoon at 1:00 and another tomorrow evening.

Wow. Lots of activity but no offers. I know the house has an odd floor plan–that’s what happens with additions and remodelling–but it’s still a great house at a reasonable price.

How in the world do other people manage to not get stressed out over things? Since I’m paying mortgage and rent right now maybe things are just more accute.

Things have definitely picked up with the house. My real estate agent thought that activity would pick up with spring and she was right. There is another viewing scheduled for tomorrow evening.

Each time I have a note about someone viewing the house, I always wait to see if there will be an offer. So far, nothing.

I checked the value of my home on a few of the real estate web sites (like Zillow). Their information was incorrect. They said the house was about 1000 square feet, when it’s actually 1692 suqare feet. The house was listed as having three bedrooms; it has two. The third bedroom was split to become a laundry room and a large walk-in closet for the master bedroom. The house’s estimated value on the real estate sites is based upon three bedrooms and ~650 less square feet. Someone who doesn’t know the house might look at the real estate site and seriously think I had lost my mind with what I’m asking for the house.

I keep searching for sites with mis-information and adding the updates that have been done to the house. I don’t know how much of a difference it will make, but there’s not much else I can do…

The good thing was seeing that other houses in my neighborhood have sold for the price range I’m asking — and those houses are considerably smaller.

Another showing tonight for the house. Maybe, just maybe, someone will like it… I keep hoping that the right person will see it and fall in love with it.

My real estate agent called me at work today with an update on what the indiviuals who had looked at the house thought of it. So… No real good news, unfortunately.

Three people thought the house was too expensive (even though the price has been lowered by $10k from the original price). One couple really loved the house. It sounded like they might have made an offer, except that the mortgage they were getting wouldn’t let them purchase inside the Knoxville city limits. My house is *one block* inside the city limits.

There was one promising note: One guy who thought the house was priced too high said that he would only consider it if the price was lower. My agent is going to call him back and see what price he would offer…

Some of the agents thought the house only showed “fair,” which means maybe not in good enough shape? I’m not sure. It’s very abstract. However, prior to my trip down to Tennessee last weekend, the floors were covered with dirt tracked in by people viewing the house and the bushes in the yard were overgrown. I spent a lot of time fixing up the front yard this trip. Next trip will probably focus on the back yard.

My neighbor had mentioned that the time to sell a house had changed from three months to nine months. My real estate agent confirmed this when we spoke. At least I’m six months into the process…?

Back to the waiting game…

I’ve been trying to get things unpacked in the apartment. Some days, like Wednesday, I’m super productive. Other days, like today, I’m not even close. I unpacked maybe one box tonight. Shuffled things around. Just didn’t have the energy after work to do much. Instead, I will probably opt to go to bed early.

Tomorrow morning I’m leaving to go to Tennessee. I get to see Isis! A friend of mine is working on a book on Morab horses. She asked for pictures of my girl to possibly include in the book. Isis will get full spa treatment before being photographed. (Ever try to photograph an animal by yourself? It’s always amusing. You can either hold the horse or take pictures.) I have to remember to take my good camera.

The vet is coming on Monday for her spring shots so I’ll be back in NC on Monday evening.

Ambush is going to come with me. He has been travelling pretty well — better than I expected. While I would prefer not to have to put him through the joys of such a long car ride, it’s probably less stressful than putting him into a kennel for the weekend. He seems to be okay once my bed (cot with sleeping bag) is setup. He settled in last trip after about 2-3 hours. We’ll see how he does this time.

While I’m in town, I’ll also be working on the house. I’m sure the bushes in the front yard are an untrimmed mess. Who knows how bad the weeds are in the flower boxes? The pond is probably badly algified since it’s that time of year… One of the fountains also isn’t working. I’ll have to fix or repair that.

The closets need some updating too. My real estate agent said that people viewing the house didn’t understand that the closets were closets. (Which makes me go huh?! There are closet poles… not enough of a clue?) I’ll have to see what I can do to make things more apparent.

Okay, kinda related topics — more that they happened on the same day than anything else. House showing and allergy update.

The house is showing this evening! Woohoo! That’s four showings in one week. Hopefully one of these will result in an offer… The house has had a lot of traffic but no serious inquiries. At least not that I’m aware of…

On to the second topic: my legs are still itching. You would think after 36+ hours that the one dose of the sulfa-based antibiotic would be out of my system. Nope. It’s still there and causing rashes. Unfortunately, I can’t take antihistamines at work (not good if you fall asleep at your desk). I have a new antibiotic to start. Maybe that will kick the sinus infection. I’m feeling better at least.

Okay, I did some heavy praying this on Friday/Saturday in hopes that the house will have good showings and that the person who is meant to have the house will find it (and hopefully buy it). Since Friday, the house has had two showings. I just got a notice for a *third* showing tomorrow!

Maybe this will be the week when things change for the house. There is another viewing today. It’s been a long time since I’ve had more than one viewing in a week. My real estate agent and I lowered the price on the house, too.

I hope it sells soon. Paying rent + mortgage is going to suck.
