Wet-food Wonderland

I love my kitty. I love my kitty. I love my kitty.

Cats are notorious for being finicky critters. I’ve been blessed with two cats who are not. Put almost anything in front of Ambush or Kiesha and they will eat it. They might even meow for seconds.

Stella, on the other hand, more than makes up for the others’ indiscretionary diet. Stella must have her wet food heated to body temperature. It must be a certain flavor and consistency. She can’t have the other kitties hovering while she eats or else she will just walk away from the food. If she doesn’t like it, she won’t eat it. She will go on a hunger strike to protest the food.

I love my kitty. I love my kitty. I love my kitty.

I have a cupboard with 10-15 types of canned food bought particularly for Stella. All lower protein and all-natural ingredients. No soy, corn, wheat, grains, nothing bad. I’ve tried all of the stuff the pet food store people said most cats like– and some stuff that looks nasty. (Like Spot’s Stew. Eeeew. It had stringy celery. Ambush ate it. Loved it. Stella looked at me like I had lost my mind.)

Tonight I went to the pet store (again!) to try to find yet another cat food she will eat. I’ve gone through I don’t know how many samples of dry food for her. She turns her nose up at all of them (except the one with protein levels too high for her kidney issues).

I bought some stuff called Blue Buffalo Spa Select. The Lite formula has 28% protein (lowest I could find) and has no corn or wheat. Not crazy about it being a Lite forumula, but if she will eat it, she’ll have something to snack on when she refuses to eat the wet food.

I’m tempted to pull up the dry food for a day and see if she will eat the wet food instead.

Right now she seems to prefer Ambush’s dry food which has 50% protein. Not good for her, but great for him. I feel like I’m juggling cat food.
