Update on Kasane

She is definitely feeling better and is moving around a lot more. She even cantered along the fence when I brought her hay. My friend at the barn helped me take a video of Kasane at the walk and trot. She’s gimpy at the trot, especially when slowing down to the walk. She’s completely off of pain killers now. Sorry about the video being at odd angles. I opted to upload the video...

Third vet visit for Kasane

We finally know what is going on with Kasane. My regular vet was out today and used an ultrasound machine on Kasane’s leg. There is a tendon that goes through the point of the shoulder on a horse. The X-rays showed that Kasane did something to damage this area. The tendon is inflamed and will need about a month or so to heal. She probably also pinched a nerve on top of that....

Less gimpy Kasane

So it is two days out, and she is looking so much better. I feel incredibly relieved. She’s walking and even trotting out in her field. The implications of what a fracture means for an animal that lives by having four stable legs. So, first the good news. The barn owner texted me this morning to let me know Kasane had moved around the field some. Yay! That means the odds of this being...

Kasane has a serious issue

It is strange that my last post was about losing a horse because I got a warning about that with Kasane today. About 4:30, the barn owner called and said Kasane wasn’t putting any weight on her front right foot. She was holding it up and not moving forward. She ate her dinner but she wasn’t walking around. She had not moved the 10 feet to eat her hay. Highly unusual for a...

Riding lesson joy with Kasane and Breezy

It has been a long road with Kasane’s various leg issues and our lesson today felt like a triumph over all of those things. She was bouncy, had hang time in her trot, picked up her canter leads really well. She just felt great. It was one of our most exciting lessons just for the sheer joy of riding her. My mom was there and thankfully recorded some snippets of our lessons. Kasane’s...
