Top Indie Games You Wouldn’t Mind Paying For

This list was posted on Slashdot today. Great list. I’ve played a few of the games, especially Depths of Peril which, unlike most games, has versions available for Mac as well as Windows. Lead-in for the article: If you are sick of the boring and overpriced commercial games, then have a look at this list. These are some of the best indie games out there, innovative, immersive, great gameplay and very reasonably priced...

Showing, again

The house is supposed to be shown today. Maybe, just maybe this will be result in another offer… Four showings in one week is pretty good, considering the market right now. Maybe I should be more optimistic. I’m trying. I really am. I’m just getting frustrated and feeling like things will never work out. Be patient. Have faith. Everyone keeps telling me that. I am trying, really. Related Images:

Very Bad News

My real estate agent just called me. The lady who was going to buy the house could not get her financing in order. She had been pre-approved. Apparently something new turned up on her credit report from the time the offer was made until now. She is going to try and get things situated but who knows what will happen… My agent was very upset. She said the buyer came in yesterday (my...

Another showing

Yesterday after I posted here, i received another email detailing a second showing for the house. All good news, especially if something happens to the current contract. I don’t remember having this many showings mid-week for quite a while. Maybe it means the market is picking up over all? Or maybe it’s just a fluke? Related Images:

Best Possible News

To me this is even better than selling the house: Isis will be in North Carolina on the weekend of August 24th! Whee! Finally! Finally! Finally! (Happy dance!) This is like Christmas and birthday and Big Happy Surprise rolled into one. It has been nerve wracking having her in a different state. I trust the people who own the farm where she is boarded. She has been there eleven years so they know...

House update

The house has two more showings this week. I’m glad that it is still having showings even though there is a contract pending. It gives me hope that if something happened and this sale fell through maybe someone else would pick up the house. In the good news category, the home inspection turned up nothing major. Yay! I was pretty sure I had corrected the issues raised by the inspection from before I...

Quote, continued

Sappho is one of my favorite ancient poets. I’ve found some wonderful pieces by her, and also some good quotes. This one is probably my favorite: “Here cold water babbles through apple branches, and roses keep the whole place in shadow, and from the quivering leaves a trance of slumber falls; here a meadow, where horses pasture, blooms with flowers of spring, and the breezes gently blow.” ~Sappho Related Images:

Arab proverbs

This was sent to me by a friend who also has an Arabian horse. Thought I would share it. My treasures do not clink together or glitter, they gleam in the sun and neigh in the night. – Arab proverb And another one I’ve used as a sig on some forums: “The wind of heaven is that which blows between a horse’s ears.” ~ Arabian proverb My girl should be here towards the...

Warning: Dotster Domain Renewal Problems

Monday evening, I tried to renew a domain through the Dotster web site. No matter what I tried, I could not get the username and password to be accepted. I figured my password was incorrected and used the password retrieval system. This system sends an email to an account associated with the domain. The email has a link for resetting the password which has to be used within 48 hours. The password retrieval...

Humour of the day

A friend of mine sent me this in a forwarded email. It’s probably made the rounds before. A couple from Tennessee and a couple from the Northeast were seated side by side on an airplane. The girl from Tennessee, being naturally friendly and all, asked the couple,’So where ya’ll from?’ The Northeast girl replied,’From a place where they know better than to use a preposition at the end of a sentence.’ The girl...

Another showing

The house has another showing today. I’m glad that it’s still getting shown, even though there is an offer on it. I haven’t heard anything new. I hope that means things are going along as they should. (And I hope so, because I’m making plans…) Related Images:

Five Best Things

This is from an email joke passed along by a friend. FIVE BEST THINGS TO SAY IF YOU GET CAUGHT SLEEPING AT YOUR DESK: NUMBER 5: They told me at the Blood Bank this might happen. NUMBER 4: ‘This is just a 15 minute power nap they raved about in the time-management course you sent me to. NUMBER 3: ‘Whew! Guess I left the top off the White-out. You probably got here just...

Stella. Again.

Stella is having trouble again. She has been doing so well for the past two months. She has decided that she prefers Ambush’s high protein food to her own lower protein dry food. She won’t eat her dry food now. I’m feeding her wet food but I have to constantly keep Ambush out of it. Stella still uses the litter box. All of the boxes are cleaned at least once per day and...

Doctor Who: Journey’s End

(If you haven’t seen the episode, fair warning: here be spoilers.) The saddest thing about Journey’s End is the contrast between the Doctor having a TARDIS full of friends and family and the end scene where he is alone in the TARDIS. If you watch Confidential for this episode, the people at BBC say that the Doctor is at his most powerful when he is alone and that he is a tragic character....
