Just cause you gotta do them some times… My blog in LOLCat form! http://lol.ianloic.com/feed/ceffyl.net/wordpress/feed/ Your home is a Magnate’s Stronghold Your kitchen is someplace you never go, because you “have people for that.” There’s a Chocolatessen, which is rapidly becoming your favorite room of the house. Having one is also becoming a trend among your wealthy neighbors. Your master bedroom is the size of a small barn, with carpet thick enough to reach...

Paying for it…

I was way too busy this weekend. Saturday started early with dance practise at 9:00 (arg, not a morning person!). That lasted about 1.5 hours. I went to the barn and worked with Isis for another hour and half. From there, I went home, fed my neighbor’s kitties, and then helped with a community dinner in the kitchen (read on my feed for another six hours). I was exhausted Saturday evening. My knees...

Shadow’s Vet Visit

Poor Shadow. Shelley dropped Shadow off on Tuesday so I could take her to the vet’s for her surgery. Shadow wasn’t very happy to be dragged around in a carrier and taken to the vet’s. Considering everything, she was quite well behaved though. She spent part of the morning in the carrier on my kitchen counter. Quiet, luckily– my other kitties didn’t notice her. The entire procedure — initial shots, spaying, microchipping(!!), and...

Stray Cat Strut

Remember the momma kitty and kittens behind my house in July? Well, the momma kitty has been adopted by my neighbor, Shelley. I had no idea until my other neighbor, Nancy, went door-to-door to find out who the black and white momma kitty belonged to. I had made an appointment with the free spay service (the Spay Shuttle) for momma kitty for September 13th. Nancy told me to contact Shelley. Momma kitty —...

Blast from the Past

I got a notice from classmates.com that I had a message waiting from Maria T, my best friend in high school and in middle school. She was the only person I was close to during those years. She married when I was a sophomore in college and joined the navy. I haven’t heard from her since. Until today. She sent me an email with her email address and phone number. So I called...

Farrier visit

The farrier came out today. It has now been exactly six weeks since Rajiyyah injured her leg. It is looking worlds better. The cut is basically gone, the swelling is minimal. She has defiitely improved. Farrier said that Isis’ feet look perfect. Yay! First time her feet have looked that good. Rajiyyah’s feet also looked good. I’m really happy with the new supplements they are on. They are making a real difference in...

Book on Belgic Gaul and Aquitania

On a mailing list I’m on, one of the members posted a notice about the following book. It looks pretty interesting. Not too terribly expensive. I’m going to see if I can get the book through interlibrary loan. I am very interested in seeing the discussions on temple design. From the Oxbow Web site (UK version): Religious Acculturation and Assimilation in Belgic Gaul and Aquitania from the Roman Conquest until the end of...

Description of Kate Bush

A friend of mine and I heard the Pippinni Sister’s remake of Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush. So we didn’t remember how the original went… So we loaded YouTube. Oh it was bad. She described Kate Bush’s singing as Tori Amos on helium. Heh. Related Images:

Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform Translator!

According to a press release from the University of Advanced Technology in Arizona, an instructor has created a translator for cuneiform and heiroglyphics. A snippet from the press release is included below. The Web site for the translator is called Virtual Secrets. Fascinating stuff. Interesting content, although I honestly find the layout of the site annoying. UAT Instructor Creates Cuneiform and Hieroglyphic Translator TEMPE, AZ–(Marketwire – August 23, 2007) – University of Advancing...

Finished painting!

Finally… Back in June when the toilet fiasco hit, I had repainted the hallway and foyer. It was supposed to be a sage green. It turned out to be the color of algae. (Can you say depressing?) It is now a bright, light lemon yellow. I just finished painting, caulking and painting the mouldings, and touching up the trim where it needed it. Yay! One more room down… I still have the in...

I smoked a noodle because someone offered me 1,000,000 dollars!

Purty funny huh? Type out the sentence you end up with, in the subject (comment field here) and forward to your friends…also, send it back to the person that sent it to you. Pick the month you were born: January——I kicked February—–I loved March——–I smoked April———I dry humped May———-I choked on June———I murdered July———I did the Macarena with August——-I had lunch with September—-I danced with October——I sang to November—–I yelled at December—–I ran...

Can’t reincarnate unless China gives OK

My coworker and I have often talked about how hard it is to find anything made in America and the issues with a lot of the items that have come out of China lately. First pet food, then fermaldehyde in children’s clothing, small high-powered magnets, paint containing lead on children’s toys, etc. Now Newsweek is carrying a story about China trying to regular reincarnation. I read that on Slashdot initially and thought it...

A little geeky…

A good friend of mine is trying to set up high speed internet access at her home. She lives out in the country, so her options are very limited. I told her about a friend of mine who uses Verizon’s wireless access vis PC card plugged into a wireless router. So my friend started exploring and found a very geeky option for her Mac: USB to EVDO to shared networking. So proud of...
